Vampire Rain

ebook
Here is a preview from "Vampire Rain" (previously titled "The Girl On the Bench in the Rain")In a blur of motion there she was, standing by his car, her blue eyes blazing fiercely, almost incandescent. Her dark iridescent black hair framed her beautiful face and fell across her shoulders to nearly touch her waist. Her hair whipped around her face furiously in the cold wind that raced through the parking deck. It danced around her face like a whirlwind. By all accounts she was beautiful except for her eyes, they pulled his attention to her and shook Alex to his core."What do you want?" he demanded. The girl looked shocked for a moment then recovered quickly. She began to advance slowly reaching her hand out towards him as she stepped in his direction. Her stare was steady and piercing. Alex knew it was no use trying to outrun a vampire. All he could do was try to maintain the distance. He took several steps back, which registered more shock on the mysterious girl's face.In a flash Emma was standing between them. "Who are you?" she hissed menacingly, her eyes glowing a brilliant shade of amber."Do you claim him as your property?" The girl snapped at Emma."He is no one's property, he has no claim," Emma replied in a threatening tone."Then stand aside vampire because I claim him now," snarled the girl, her fangs were beginning to show."She's the girl who stabbed me in my dream!" thought Alex, his mind reeling frantically with the realization."Leave us if you value your life vampire," growled Emma in a threatening tone as she advanced slowly towards the girl, "We are no threat to you if you go now."The girl broke her stare with Alex, looked briefly at Emma, and then vanished in a blur."Vampire Rain" by Konrad WintersIs a story about vampires. And it's a story about trust. But most of all, It's a story about love. The Dhampir in the story (an ancient Romanian word for a vampire halfling) is a kinder and gentler version of the traditional vampire character, yet still capable of extraordinary feats of strength and agility. The Dhampir is less the monster found in classic literature and more human, of which all of them are, mostly. This conceptual change emphasizes the human qualities of the vampire myth with all the frailties and foibles that are associated with being human. Yes, it's a book about vampires. But I wanted to offer a new spin to the age-old vampire myth and explore the romance and adventure of this experience from a human perspective.
